PIKE NOW CHAPTER CHALLENGE 2022 IS A SUCCESS
The PIKE Now Chapter Challenge (PIKE Now), first instituted in 2021, was such a success, that it has been repeated for 2022. PIKE Now 2021 was a fund-raising event intended to offset the costs of COVID on college campuses. The success of this event warranted a repeat PIKE Now in 2022 for the purpose of establishing PIKE University scholarships, fortifying Chapter Endowment Funds (CEF), and expanding fraternity programming, including educational programs that foster the health and safety of all Pi Kappa Alpha student members.
This year’s donations totaled $393,881 that includes a $100,000 matching donation. This far exceeds the 2021 total of a little over $250,000. Thanks to the contributions of 39 generous alumni and the first-time donations of all our undergraduate members, Beta Pi was able to raise $20,366. In 2021, the Beta Pi donations totaled $20,347. The Beta Pi team ranked 3rd in total contributions of all PiKA chapters. There are currently 200 active chapters and provisional chapters in Pi Kappa Alpha.
As the Beta Pi team exceeded its donation goal of $5,000, Beta Pi will receive 5 individual scholarships for academic tuition to be used at PIKE University. An additional $500 scholarship to PIKE University was awarded to Beta Pi in recognition of the efforts of Bruce Wolfson, Beta Pi ’71, for having raised the 3rd highest donation total of all Pike Now sponsors.
In addition, pursuant to a special arrangement by Bruce Wolfson with Pi Kappa Alpha Inter/National leaders, 50% of the funds raised by the Beta Pi team for PIKE Now will be set aside and made available only to Beta Pi undergraduate members to defray lodging and travel expenses when attending PiKA Inter/National events. Beta Pi is the only chapter to participate in this one-time arrangement. This special fund will be over $10,000.
Kudos to our undergraduate members for being one of only 24 chapters to have 100% donation participation. Every active student member of Beta Pi contributed to PIKE Now 2022.
