DAN FISCHETTI NAMED AS A FORBES 30 UNDER 30

Ten years ago, Forbes magazine produced a new feature, the 30 Under 30, to introduce young people under the age of thirty who are leaders, innovators, and/or “superstars” in their fields of endeavor. Dan Fischetti, Beta Pi ’11, Eng ’14, Gen ’14, has made the list for 2022.

Forbes chooses thirty persons in each of twenty categories, 600 in all. In the category “retail, ecommerce”, brother Fischetti made the list as the Director of Research and co-founder of Standard AI aka Standard Cognition (Sc). In 2017, brother Fischetti was one of five co-founders who left employment at the Securities and Exchange Commission, and joined two other individuals to form the seven co-founders of Sc.

Sc manufactures and installs automated checkout technology for retail stores that allows customers to remove items from shelves and then leave the store without a checkout. Utilizing cameras situated throughout a store, the system is able to identify the products picked up by a customer, record the purchase on a mobile app, and automatically charge the total purchase to the customer’s account.

Although there are now other companies in this field, Sc is a ground-breaking leader. In an article dated October 13, 2021 for VentureBeat, an online technology news publication, Frank Beard analyzes the results of Sc’s first in-store project, a transformation of a Circle K retail store in Arizona into a cashierless location, “Standard AI has transformed retail as we know it.
