NYC Alumni Association Rides For God’s Love We Deliver

On November 21, 2020, the Pi Kappa Alpha New York City Alumni Association (NYCAA) sponsored a “CRANKSGIVING DAY RIDE,” to raise money for GOD’S LOVE WE DELIVER (GLWD), which prepares and delivers 2,000,000 nutritious meals annually (11,000 meals per day) to New Yorkers who are too sick to cook or shop for themselves. The food is prepared and delivered by volunteers. The effect of COVID-19 on New York’s most vulnerable population has been devastating, and GLWD has seen a 26% increase in need this year.

The members of the NYCAA participated in a 45-minute, socially distanced virtual class via Vimeo, led by professional cycling coach Juliet Root of Flywheel Fitness and Unite Fitness. The CRANKSGIVING DAY RIDE was organized by the NYCAA’s Athletics Chairman, John P. Campbell IV (Delta Alpha, ‘94), and the NYCAA’s Community Service Chairman, Robert J. Greene (Alpha Theta, ‘09).

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NYCAA has been unable to schedule any in-person activities for the last year. However, the officers of the NYCAA remain in touch by email and look forward to when COVID-19 restrictions have been eased that would allow in-person functions.

If you can help GLWD, you can still donate through the NYCAA’s CRANKSGIVING DAY RIDE fundraiser at https://give.glwd.org/campaign/pi-kappa-alpha-chapter-of-nyc-cranksgiving-day-ride-2020/c305768.
