FAUX FOUNDERS DAY 2022 A SUCCESS

Faux Founders Day, the traditional gathering in New York City to celebrate the founding of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, took place on March 3, 2022 at Draught 55 in midtown Manhattan. This event, organized by Parker Weil, Beta Pi ’85, has built into a nice tradition for both brothers living in the metro area as well as some out-of-towners who are able to visit NYC. COVID-19 eliminated the 2021 gathering, so there was a lot of enthusiasm to get back together in person and share some stories.

Over 20 Beta Pi alumni appeared at the gathering that occurred only days before New York City withdrew the requirement that proof of vaccination was required to be presented to enter New York City restaurants and bars. Among those who enjoyed the chance to meet with their life-long friends were: Jeff Tepper ’84, Alan Frost ’84, Larry Wieseneck ’84, Parker Weil ’85, Seth Shulman ’89, Eric Aroesty ’89, Hank Weiss ’85, Michael Seeve ’89, Andrew Gold ’85, Ben Young ’86, Andrew Rubinstein ’88, Steven Wayne ’85, Bruce Darringer ’88, Brad Silver ’86, Scott Tolchin ’86, Andrew Kurtz ’85, Rob Epstein ’83, Jeff Horing ’83, Ari Horowitz ’87, Morty Cohen ’65, and Ross Weiner ’80.

The front section of an upper-level bar at Draught 55 was set aside by management for the exclusive use of Beta Pi to enjoy refreshing beverages and tasty treats from the kitchen.

Spirits were high at the get-together for good reason. Many of those in attendance look forward to Faux Founders Day as the only time they can find to renew friendships with their fraternity brothers. They were disappointed at their inability to visit with their long-time friends in 2021 due to the pandemic.

This year, they had two years of personal news to exchange. Brothers swapped news and anecdotes of their families, current events, past fraternity and campus life, careers, and the lure of retirement. Now, all anxiously await next year’s gathering.
